WHALE WATCHING

 

Hop in your private 18’ Scout and explore some of the most spectacular scenery in the world! 70 miles from the nearest road, this coast is uninhabited and accessible only by boat or floatplane.  The rich and nutrient filled ocean is loaded with a variety of marine wildlife including Gray, Humpback and Killer Whales (Orca). You’ll also see harbour seals and sealions, sea otters, porpoises and a myriad of birdlife including puffins, blue herons and bald eagles.

 

Unlike most tours, you are free to explore on your own any time, while always in radio contact and under GPS tracking.

TIDAL BEAR WATCHING IN RIVERS INLET

Rivers Inlet offers the most incredible coastline for viewing grizzly bears. These adventure tours cruise through the protected and calm waters surrounding scenic Pendleton Island.

 

The resident bears come down to the beaches at low tide to forage for such beach delicacies as rock crab, starfish, mussels and even a bit of kelp. They are an absolute pleasure to watch from the boat and thanks to their poor eyesight they are usually unaware of our presence so long as we keep quiet and a respectable distance up wind.

KAYAKING THE CALM, PROTECTED WATERS

Paddle along the evergreen cloaked coastlines of the calm protected waters surrounding Legacy Lodge. Kayaking in Rivers Inlet allows you to witness the magnificent breach of orca and humpback whales, enjoy the graceful schools of porpoise passing by and watch as bald eagles glide peacefully overhead and swoop down for fish. Rivers Inlet is ideal for kayaking because of the great weather, calm waters, abundance of wildlife and unlimited miles of pristine coastline. Depart right from our dock twice a day, and our support staff can meet you beachside with meals and refreshments.

FISHING FOR ROCKFISH
Prolific offshore and inshore reefs offer exceptional fishing for a variety of bottom-fish including Ling Cod, Yellow Eye Snapper, rockfish, and more. Enjoy the spectacular sport that these tasty game fish provide. Kids love this fishery.

PRAWNING & CRABBING
Explore the rugged coastlines of Rivers Inlet. Whales, bears, eagles, seals, and miles of shoreline give way to some of the most dramatic backdrops for amazing images. Sunrise to sunset the Great Bear Wilderness delivers!
Want to ply the depths for Dungeness Crabs or Prawns? We have plenty of traps we place just several hundred yards from the Lodge.  Make your feast fabulous  and haul some of these sustainably harvested delicacies.
And of course, your Legacy Lodge adventure is perfectly complemented by the enjoyment of great dining.

All meals are overseen by Executive Chef Buddy Wolfe, specializing in traditional Pacific Northwest fare featuring local ingredients for an incredible dining experience. With a menu of fresh seafood, native delicacies and prime beef, his creations are assured to please the most discriminating taste. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available for our guests as well.

 

Breakfast is prepared before you set out for a day amazing adventures. Your selection of hot & cold drinks and snacks are on board and waiting when you’re ready to depart. Cold lunch is served on the water or head back to the dock for a hot lunch served at the dock bar.

Every evening cocktails and appetizers are served, featuring the day’s catch and our chef’s specials, all harvested from the bountiful waters that surround Legacy Lodge. All meals are included in the price of your trip. Alcohol is not included.
